Primary Function
As the Benefits Specialist, you will provide assistance with the administration of benefit programs including but not limited to health insurance and disability leave of absences.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and track leave of absence/disability programs to ensure employee claims are processed and paid timely.
- Administer benefit enrollment system
- Validate tasks and documents necessary for activating benefit coverages
- Process benefits deduction variance file
- Manage the transition of temporary to permanent employees
- Support and train local HR on open tasks
- Maintain benefit records and prepare reports to audit data entries in HR systems
- Support and educate HR to work through benefit issues and claims questions
- Assist with ACA compliance
- Ensure smooth transition of benefits for COBRA and retiree enrollments
- Advise employees and retirees on eligibility for health insurance including coverage and claim processing including amount of coverage
- Manages Qualified Medical Support Orders and additional supporting documentation for eligible dependents.
- Provides open enrollment support
- Ensures on time bill payment to all health & welfare vendors
- Other project support and duties as assigned
Qualifications
BASIC QUALIFICIATIONS:
- Associates Degree in Human Resources or related preferred
- 2+ years of related experience
- Knowledge of standards, practices, and techniques of human resources, and administration, policies, and procedures
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive personal information of applicants, employees, former employees and other matters affecting employee relations
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience tracking data in multiple HR platforms such as payroll, benefits, HRIS, and timekeeping systems preferred
- Previous experience working with Benefitplace, UKG, Employee Central a plus
