Primary Function
The Global Tax Director leads and manages the tax department, overseeing the preparation and maintenance of tax returns, reports and other related materials. The tax director is expected to participate in the development and implementation of tax strategies, ensure compliance with tax laws, optimize tax positions and collaborate with senior leadership and recommend effective ways to optimize the tax structure and provide recommendations for alternative tax treatments to alleviate or reduce tax burden.
Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting: Manage all aspects of reporting for income taxes including review of the worldwide tax provision, SEC disclosures, effective tax rate modeling, forecasting, and SOX compliance.
- Tax Reporting: Oversee filing of all tax returns, including but not limited to, Federal and state income tax, property tax, sales and use tax, foundation returns, etc.
- Tax Strategy and Planning: Manage tax planning including structuring alternatives and optimization of company’s tax position. Provide support for M&A projects including due diligence and structure planning.
- Audits and Litigation: Manage tax audits, including sales and use tax and other tax audits, globally. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address material audit adjustments, if any.
- Foreign: Manage worldwide transfer pricing strategy, policies, and procedures, including compliance under BEPS reporting requirements.
- Research and Analysis: Monitor changes to tax laws and regulations, determine financial statement impact and communicate any significant changes to senior management.
- Management and Leadership: Mentor and manage tax team to foster a high performing and effective department. Manage and maintain relationships with external tax advisors. Assist internal stakeholders with tax related questions and issues. Communicate and present current and future tax landscape to senior management and audit committee.
- Other: Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in tax or related.
- 10+ of experience in tax management, with significant experience in a leadership role.
- CPA required.
- 5+ years supervisory or leadership experience.
- Demonstrated excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
Additional Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in tax or comparable experience preferred.
- Tax experience in both the corporate environment and public accounting preferred.
- 15+ years of experience in tax management, with significant experience in a leadership role preferred.
- 20+ years of tax experience with strong knowledge of the following preferred:
- ASC 740 and related tax accounting
- US International
- Foreign
- Transfer Pricing / Competent Authority
- Audit/Appeals/Litigation
- Tax planning and strategy
