Primary Function
Works with industry & universities to develop new technologies and standards. Acts as technical leader to others within the Company. Provides technical direction to co-workers in area of expertise and ensures co-workers have technical information to make projects successful.
Responsibilities
- Identifies projects of value to the company.
- Directs use of specific CAE software such as Solidworks, MATLAB, LabView, Minitab, EES, CFD, FEA, etc. and interprets results
- Effectively communicates technical material to internal business units.
- Regular collaboration with product design and manufacturing, may lead functional best practice meetings, and has a recognized reputation of contribution to operations.
- Solid understanding of AOS processes and customers, participates in functional best practices, and has recognized expertise by operations.
- Have significant technical accomplishments for the Company.
- Able to balance & prioritize multiple projects within schedule and budget.
- Helps coordinate projects with outside funding.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- 7+ years of related work experience or training
- Effective written & verbal communication.
- Keeps abreast of competitor and new product activity.
- Some reputation of expertise and accomplishment
- Demonstrated work within the industry and universities to develop new technologies and standards
- Experience collaborating on patents, trade secrets, or papers
- Good problem solving skills and the ability to identify projects of value to the company
- Competent user of discipline specific CAE software such as Solidworks, MATLAB, LabView, Minitab, EES, CFD, FEA, etc.
- Ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbal, including technical material
- Ability to balance and prioritize multiple projects within a schedule and budget
