Primary Function

The A. O. Smith Engineering Co-op/Internship program allows you to apply skills and knowledge you're learning in College, while contributing to exciting, real-world projects.  We will provide hands-on experience to fit your career objectives, complement your academic work and enhance your learning.

Responsibilities

  1. Assist in the development of water filtration system for water treatment. 
  2. Read test request and communicate with other lab staff and engineers to setup tests.
  3. Preparing challenge water with organic and inorganics contaminants for filtration systems.
  4. Following test request to operate tests. Effectively communicate on test status.
  5. Water sample preparation and analysis of various inorganic and organic contaminants.
  6. Record and keep test records.
  7. Assist lab staff and engineers to solve issues in tests.  
  8. Biological sample propagation, plating, counting, disposal. 
  9. Input data to system, and prepare reports as necessary to update project status.
  10. Following lab 5S regulation to clean and organize laboratory
  11. Other responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.
     

Qualifications

  • Working towards a bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • Entering junior or senior year of college
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Adaptability and ability to learn quickly in high-pressure environments
  • Ambitious self-starter who has demonstrated the ability to contribute as an effective team member
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated motivation and initiative to succeed
  • Knowledge and interest in A. O. Smith Corporation
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday for 12 weeks
  • Willingness and ability to give presentations to colleagues, managers and directors
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications-MS Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Comfortable working with confidential information
     

Education

High School Diploma or GED

Years of Experience

Minimum of 1 year related work experience
