O.  Smith, a $3 billion company which has been in business for 144 years and employs more than 16,000 men and women globally.  Integration of the market-leading companies is currently underway.  The HR Manager position will play a critical leadership role in this successful integration.

Primary Function

The Human Resources Manager works closely with business leaders and members of the HR team to deliver on organizational values, business objectives and people strategy.


  • Partners with appropriate key stakeholders to lead and/or support change needed for effective integration between Giant and A. O. Smith.
  • Builds trust and credibility with others by following through on commitments, establishing positive relationships, and being a champion for organizational values.
  • Consults, influences and coaches leaders in the design, development, and execution of people strategies and other change initiatives in the areas of Talent Acquisition, Talent Development, Performance Management, Employee/Labor Relations, Employee Engagement, Compensation, Payroll, Benefits, Leave Management, and Safety.
  • Drives continuous improvement by analyzing the effectiveness of HR programs, processes, and policies to include the development and implementation of KPIs.  Where gaps exist, exercises problem solving techniques and project management skills to develop, execute, and sustain improvements. 
  • Keeps current with social, marketplace and technology trends, translating opportunities into value for the organization.
  • Makes development of self and others a priority.
  • Ensures the company's compliance with the pay equity plan, labor laws and other employment standards.


  • Bachelor's degree in industrial relations, human resources management, or business from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 10 years of HR generalist experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience in a Lean environment (preferred)
  • Previous experience leading and developing others (direct reports)
  • Demonstrated experience with leading large change initiatives.
  • Agile learner with demonstrated business and analytical ability
  • Mastery of labor law and social law
  • Management of IT tools and HR software
  • Bilingual (French and English)
