This role is located in our modern Nashville Metro Center office, located just minutes from downtown with easy interstate access and free parking.
Primary Function
As the Senior Electrical Process Engineer, you will be responsible for working with all A.O. Smith facilities and providing expert electrical guidance & support (as subject matter expert) for their electrical infrastructure systems, equipment integrity programs, and safety standards compliance requirements (including NFPA-70E training). In addition, you will provide process engineering support for our global energy & greenhouse gas footprint reduction initiatives and our automation/controls technology related initiatives.
Based out of our Nashville, TN, this role is eligible to participate in our remote work program, which allows employees to work remotely up to two days per week. New employees in eligible roles can apply for this program after successfully completing their initial 90 days of employment.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert electrical guidance & support for power distribution, electrical infrastructure systems, and equipment functions.
- Provide advisory support for asset care strategies to ensure defined preventive maintenance activity (IR thermography, exercise & test breakers, etc) compliance and safety system activities (arc flash assessments, LOTO, etc) are being scheduled and effectively executed
- Facilitate standard process audits to identify continuous improvement gaps, and ensure compliance with electrical safety standards & regulations (OSHA, NFPA, NEC, ANSI, etc)
- Coordinate baseline mapping of electrical and power distribution system, ensuring single line drawings and field labelling is current, and both align in support of an effective LOTO execution
- Provide expert electrical engineering review of and support for strategic initiatives & capital projects involving electrical systems and distribution of power, ensuring alignment between need, technology, and application.
- Educate and build awareness within our workforce, ensuring electrical safety programs provide full protection for all workers when their job responsibilities expose them to electrical hazards
- Coordinate review of master equipment and process specifications for content & suggested upgrades ensuring compliance with defined safety standards & regulations
- Champion and provide process ownership support for global energy & greenhouse gas footprint reduction initiatives including facilitation of the global energy council and controls technology council related activities to help achieve defined goals & objectives
- Perform other activities as business needs require
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or a related field from a 4-year college or university (electrical engineering preferred)
- Broad understanding of manufacturing processes and work environments
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of electrical specifications, standards, regulations and their application within power distribution, electrical infrastructure systems and equipment functions within a manufacturing and/or product testing environment
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: (Preferred qualifications)
- Highly motivated, self-starter who can prioritize based on overall goals and objectives
- Good project management skills with proven ability to influence without authority
- Able to facilitate cross-functional, multi-site collaborations and build relationships that promote cooperation and consensus between global team members (process standardization)
- Able to plan, develop, and execute tactical and strategic manufacturing initiatives, and must carry out duties with utmost integrity
- Must be able to travel domestically and internationally (upwards of 50% as business needs dictate)
- Electrical Safety experience and Certifications (a plus)
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proficient with computers and programs, specifically Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc
