This role is located in our modern Nashville Metro Center office, located just minutes from downtown with easy interstate access and free parking.  This position is a hybrid role with 3 days per week in the office after the first 90 days.

Primary Function

This position is a unique opportunity to serve as a software solution architect and SME focusing on Financial Solutions (SAP S/4 at the core) while being a highly visible face to our business stakeholders and technology team.

The solutions Architect will understand existing opportunities and challenges, prioritize based on business value and is responsible to architect the overall technical vision for a specific solution to a business problem (design, describe, document, and manage the solution implementation), orchestrating integration and bringing various technical, application and business teams together.

In this role you will serve as the point person for technical expertise related to all finance applications, responsible for equipping business finance professionals with solutions that drive continuous improvement, including automation.


  • Develop and deliver solution architecture for the SAP FICO module, BW/BPC, Concur, Vertex, UiPath RPA and support integration with internal SAP modules & external 3rd Party applications
  • Develop a deep understanding of A. O. Smith business processes and strategy through collaboration and regular engagement with key stakeholders and process owners
  • Build strong relationships with business users and managers and serve as a trusted technical advisor to business users and managers in our accounting, tax, treasury, and financial planning & analysis business teams by providing insights, architecting, and delivering solutions that solve organizational problems; as well as to manage and influence their expectations
  • Lead critical projects from start to finish including requirements gathering, solutioning, deployment, testing, training, change management, documentation, communication, and measuring business value
  • Serve as the liaison between the internal and external customers and the technical teams
  • Collaborate with technology and business leaders to develop and implement financial process area roadmaps
  • Configures business systems to accommodate change requests or new processes.
  • Gather and document systems and process requirements through meetings, workshops, site visits, and job shadowing; create and maintain documentation on financial business processes
  • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, break high-level requirements into details, and distinguish user requests from underlying needs, translating these into documented architecture solutions
  • Collaborate with other functional architects and business analysts to ensure end-to-end process integration and consistency
  • Support completion of incidents and enhancement requests and keep users up to date on status.
  • Provides guidance and support to junior team members



  • Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis in IS, Business, or related field, or equivalent work experience and training
  • Minimum of 7 years of related experience with business operations/processes to include analysis, design, documentation, and using industry best practices and standards and 4+ years of functional/configuration experience in SAP-FICO (General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Profit center accounting, cost center accounting, product costing, internal orders, and Profitability Analysis) and SAP BPC. Concur and Vertex experience a plus.
  • 2 life cycle implementations of S/4 HANA
  • Must have experience with and understand many standard business processes and the SAP functionality that supports a manufacturing plant, with a focus on FICO (Materials Management, Intercompany, Transportation Management, Production Planning, Sales and Distribution, Payroll & Human resources modules) and its integration to FICO
  • Project management experience; continuous improvement skills and mindset
  • Expertise in leading design/blueprint process workshops, SAP Configuration, Vertex Configuration, Custom Development, EDI Interface development, Cutover Activities, Data Migration, Testing and User Training and hyper-care support experience
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with a strong attention to detail and the ability to troubleshoot systems issues and coordinate with other process experts to resolve integrated issues
  • Ability to design interfaces between SAP and external systems (IDOC based, flat file based, XML based) via EDI set up and coordination with EDI partners a plus
