What’s great about this opportunity?


This position offers a key leadership opportunity to drive the re-platforming of several legacy websites to Salesforce Commerce Cloud.  In this role, your challenge would be to lead the team of vendors and internal stakeholders to position A. O. Smith and our brands for digital success within our branded domains, and to iteratively optimize the platform in partnership with the business unit owners for each website.  You’ll need to use your prior experience with SFCC to guide the team to the right technical architecture for scale, manageability and optimizations at maturity.  This is a brand-new role on the newly-formed Digital Marketing Platforms team, which provides the marketing functions within each business unit with design & development solutions to support their web platform, PIM platform and mobile app platform needs.

Primary Function

This role has responsibility for supporting the North American business units by managing all aspects of platform migration and standardization of A. O. Smith’s branded websites to the Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC) platform.  The role will initially focus on managing the migration of 20+ websites from various legacy platforms to the SFCC platform, and will gradually transition to optimizations & improvements as the number of websites on the SFCC platform increases.

Scope of Responsibility

This will primarily be a business-focused technology management role, with the requirement to build and maintain a functional consensus with the North American Water Heating (NAWH), Lochinvar, North American Water Treatment (NAWT) and Business Technology Solutions (BTS) groups for developing & implementing both the initial website transitions and prioritized optimizations to legacy websites.

Role Specific Responsibilities

  • Blueprints the migration process, engaging the business unit site owners to understand customer and business objectives
  • Lead the process to design, develop, integrate and configure our new websites on a standardized platform
  • Gather customer UX and business unit requirements to formulate a comprehensive set of objectives for each website migration: including website KPIs, desired features and functionality to both maintain and add, timelines and testing/validation plans.
  • Integrate new platform with existing and/or added A. O. Smith-owned or licensed technologies including SAP, payment gateway and fraud management platforms, ratings and reviews platforms, marketing automation and CRM platforms and others as required by the business units.
  • Manage all aspects of the relationships with web design & development vendors, including plans/budgets/capabilities/performance/contracts
  • Provide project reporting on a regular basis
  • Build consensus with key partners to adjust the plan as needed
  • Provide insight to the business units to help them understand and evaluate ways to leverage new or existing SFCC features/cartridges
  • Partner with the NAWT and BTS (IT) teams for the initial transition of the ecommerce site from the legacy LAMP stack to SFCC
  • Partner with the business unit Marketing teams, BTS and the SFCC implementation vendor to review legacy sites and develop migration plans for each website
  • Partner with the business unit Marketing teams, BTS and the SFCC implementation vendor to produce designs & templates for each website
  • Partner with the business unit Marketing teams, BTS and the SFCC implementation vendor to integrate ecommerce functions with SAP
  • Partner with the business unit Marketing teams, BTS and the PIM team to implement a plan to ingest data from the PIM platform in a SFCC-compliant XML format


  • Experience working with/leading agile development methodologies is preferred
  • Experience working with ecommerce-first websites and/or non-ecommerce branded manufacturing websites
  • Experience leading teams to produce both technical and UX/UI deliverables
  • Experience leading the efforts of vendors and internal teams in digital environment
  • Managerial familiarity with browser-side web development skills (HTML/CSS/React, etc) and working with RESTful APIs is required;  additional managerial familiarity with server-side web development and data storage skills is preferred (Node.js/.NET/JSON/SQL/AWS)
  • Well-organized, collaborative and detail-oriented
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment handling multiple tasks
  • Quick learner – ability to gain product specification knowledge for multiple brands
  • Must be resourceful, team-oriented and have strong problem-solving skill


Bachelor's Degree in Marketing or Information Technology Management
